Wish they had done a bit more research or more carefully written the article. It starts out early with this statement - "It was the first time that U.S. bank notes, which have been signed by 29 prior Treasury secretaries, featured the signature of a woman." It may be the first time as Secretary of the Treasury, but several women's signatures have appeared on bills as Treasurer. It is the first time both signatures have been from women.

The oldest woman's signature I could find in a short search was for Georgia Neese Clark, Treasurer during Truman's second term as President.
