Darnold will be fine as a 3rd string. I wished Niners had signed Tom Brady two years ago when he wanted to play for them. Then Brady had a monster season and won the Super Bowl with the Bucs. Kyle Shanahan didn't think Brady had anything left and now admitted he was wrong. One of Shanahan's notoriously bad judgements. Brady was much better than Garappolo.
Last statement may be true, it is for virtually all QB's, however I've always liked Jimmy G. He could easily lead any team now that he is not stuck behind Tommy Boy. Hope he continues to do well.
