This country desperately needs fewer guns, and more workers willing to do the tough low-paying jobs. Right now, this role is often filled by employers under-the-table using “illegal” migrant workers. If we were to successfully eliminate all such workers, some of our industries would likely collapse (including agriculture, meatpacking, and construction).
Unfortunately, one party has thoroughly demonized immigration and opposes any legitimate (and desperately needed) reform. So the alternate, “illegal” method thrives.
