This is in addition to requiring a checking account/debit card to get the $5 discount on autopay. I understand that, as well, because of the cost of using credit cards. The problem is that there are a number of credit cards that have phone insurance and it's very rare/absent for debit/checking accounts. I'm waiting to see if the TMobile Money account has phone insurance but I'd bet they won't because they want to sell you insurance on the account, itsself.
