He took it to a new level of crony. The board of Apple isn't going to let Tim go wilding out sullying the brand. They'd ditch him forthwith. It demonstrates how mentally broken Elon Musk is that he would engineer such an arrangement. He's willing to risk it all for the prospect of Mars that only the government of the USA could possibly pay for.
It's not even something that's all that important in the scheme of things. He's throwing his life away. Sold his soul backing the stupidity of Trump simply because he knows he can manipulate him. Not even another Republican administration would back him. They don't care about Mars.
