On that point, you and I agree..
I'll eat the stuff on a hot dog in a pinch, but it isn't really chili!
Corn meal or polenta is good if you accidentally get the chili too watery, and need to thicken it up.
Canned corn works OK to cool down chili you get too hot ( a little), and adds nice textury bits of vegetable matter without affecting that wholesome chili taste

Dang... now I'm thinking about fixing a pot of chili over the weekend...
Hmm... buddy of mine was saying he had some leftover wild pig in his freezer.. Maybe I could strike a deal with him for some of it.
