When we adopted ours, two cats were cheaper together than separately. Can't recall the price break. And spayed/neutered is 1/2 the cost to license locally.
2 boys get along best, then a boy and a girl, and two girls least of all. Littermates get along better than strangers, so a pair of brothers are usually easy to live with.
BUT the allergen that people are allergic to is a protein in cat saliva, so it isn't actually cat dander that people are allergic to, it is the dried cat spit ON the dander. that is why a small scratch can really itch, as the claw may have been covered with dried cat spit. Unfortunately male cats have more of the protein in their saliva than females. So I am really allergic to cats, and of course we have 2 brothers......
