SATA Port Multiplier technology... Clear up a few things for me?
#5
I've been looking at many different sites and so far, I've only seen one that seems to say that the drives are independent on a shared link. That's exactly what I want.

I'd like to find maybe 2 more articles or specs that say the same before I count on it. A $90 FW->SATA adapter is a bit expensive to buy when it would only connect to two drives. But to add a $90 adapter and be able to attach 5 drives plus have an external SATA port too, that wouldn't be so bad.

I'm not that worried about bandwidth, a single SATA II port would have plenty so long as I'm not doing transfers to all the drives.
