Question re Mail and size limits of accounts

Do local folders in Mail count toward the total size limit (2GB ) of accounts in Mail? (As detailed here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25812) Anybody know?

I'm thinking to take my largest sent mail messages and sort them into a new folder, but am not sure that this will help as regards the size limit... of course it would help organizationally, but I might not bother if it will have no influence on the size issue.
