[quote MacManMaz]My new iMac 20 is having trouble reading DVD's. It chokes on commercial movie DVD's and homemade DVD-R and Game DVD's that previously worked fine. It is behaving kinda like my home player gets when a dirty DVD has deposited gunk in it.
Can/should I use one of those cheap CD/DVD cleaners on it? They work great on my home player. Any other cleaning recommendations?
NEW?
Call Apple.
Isn't dirty, unless you play DVD's constantly, everyday.
My newest Mac is my G5 DP1.8 tower, I have ripped 350++ DVD's, not a hiccup.
My G5 DP2GHz tower has burned thousands of DVD's/CD's, not a hiccup. In fact, I have never cleaned my drives.
It could be a firmware problem, vertically oriented drives use a different firmware to slow them down.
