My guess is, something has happened to your ability to use AppleTalk..

Either it got turned "off" on the iBook, or for some reason the route stopped "passing" AppleTalk...

Now, I'm also ASSUMING that the printer is an AppleTalk device...
If it's not, disregard this "clue".
