I really wonder if the issue is other than color management?

I'm using what I consider, a higher end consumer printer, a Canon ip8500, and a Canon 20D. I would think that there should be no problem with compatibility between these two products, yet I can't seem to get a "normal" print without some heavy duty lightening.

As far as I can tell, for other people, printing a straight, unedited photo usually produces a fairly decent, if not perfect print. If I try such a print, it always appears way darker than what I see on my screen.

It seems that some other factor may be causing this variation from the screen image. I'm wondering if, somehow, a setting for either the printer or the camera is way off.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your thoughts,

GeneL
