I'm not sure how getting an MBA is going to help you much, except for maybe a few courses in organizational behavior. It might help you become a manager, and they you can just force changes in your organization. And if you can show other groups in your company that it saves money, you can influence their methods.
BTW, I'm currently two-thirds of the way through an MBA program, and I think you'll miss a lot by doing the distance learning. I get a lot from interacting with other people in my classes.
