Good point. I think there are many ways to store stuff online ( I have 4 backup-only GMail accounts, for instance), but I think what might work in this Carbonite's favor is the idea that it backs up automatically, and throughout the day. I don't know if it's something I'd use, but it was pointed out to me by a friend.
You could use an app like Deja Vu, or probably SuperDuper to backup. Or you could use Interarchy as well.

Dang! I'm not saying you do, but how long would it take to back up 445 gb over the internet?
Yeah, I haven't done it yet. By my math with my connection, it would take 10,369,252 seconds to upload 445GB. That's about 120 days.
