LED bulbs are still a little experimental. Light output per LED for mass produced models has almost doubled in the last 5 years and will likely double again in another 5 years. After they start selling 20 million units per year the prices should drop to about the same as incadescent units, will be twice as efficient as CFL bulbs and last four times as long.
