Summer housing only prices are lucrative enough that local home owners rent further away and put their abodes up for rent.
Summer rents are quite high. It's what the market now bears.
30 years ago Newport was a dump. Not every place, but especially the old waterfront down where the ferry used to cross the harbor.
Many have spent a considerable amount of $ and effort to turn it into the wonderful rehab and resort that it is now.
It's now quite nice.
Congested, but I could spend a leisurely Summer there, as long as I also didn't have to work.
I'm in Newport once or more a month.
