More oddball iPhone-y questions
#9
[quote PeterB]1) How long is battery life supposed to be? I'm not sure I'm getting anywhere near what I should...
I find that I have two "modes" for my iPhone:
a) Demoing it for people all day long (just got back from a party, guess what I did all night?)
b) Using it as a phone and ipod more or less exclusively (some email, some web browsing)

When I'm demoing the thing all day, I find that it's battery lasts about a day, day-and-a-half. When I'm using it more normally, about three days.

3) How to deal with email accounts which are POP, e.g., gmail? If the iPhone downloads them from the server, will the downloaded messages then sync with Mail.app when you later connect the iPhone to your Mac?

For POP mail accounts, I find that you want to set the iPhone to leave the messages on the server for a few days/a week in order to make sure you also get them on your main computer (where you have it set to delete from server after retrieving).

Luckily for me, .Mac mail is IMAP so I'm really REALLY enjoying replying to emails on my iPhone and then having them show up as replied when I dl them to my BlackBook!

5) The iPod portion of the iPhone seems not to want to play a large number of my songs from iTunes... when it comes to one of these songs, the iPhone will either just skip over the song to the next, or will hang on it... I'm pretty sure my iPod does NOT do that, so again, what gives?

This is USUALLY a symptom of a multi-iTunes-user household. My wife bought some songs from iTunes (using her account), but the songs are on my machine. The rest were ripped from CDs or bought under my account. Guess which ones don't play on my iPhone?
