And yet iPhone is entirely RoHS compliant. (Don't know if the earphones have to be reformulated for sale in Europe, however.)
Hopefully some enterprising company will make a good replacement earphone set for the iPod with the long jack, control clicker, and microphone. I forgot how much Apple's white earbuds drove me mad until I got my iPhone and tried to use the current iteration of them.
