wait for a non-toxic iphone?
#12
That is double edged though......

We have moved many our products to RoHS compliance - which essentially means leadfree. Some things like processors for processor upgrades aren't all available yet in Lead Free solder. There are some fall outs we've seen too on RoHS part + takes more energy to make them and to build with them because of higher temperatures required for proper baking of the non-leaded solder.

We're cool with all that... and actually - a lot of our stuff was already RoHS without us needing to change - but the double edge sword is the documentation and filings (added expense and time) needed for RoHS compliance.

Just an example... to me - consumers should think when they buy. Kills me when green promoters show themselves to be hypocrites through their own actions or inactions. Lots of opportunity for every INDIVIDUAL to make the difference when it comes to safe products, energy savings, etc - that's where it starts, not with overbearing regulation.

Our new home is green and that was our choice to make happen and glad to make the choice and amazing the actual roadblocks we've had to hop to make this course stay true. Funny really - not surprising - many politicians talk it up, but that's for the benefit of getting votes since action doesn't often back it up. We're very pleased that our own state senator has been very proactive with the entire green program.. any way.

[quote zero]European standards for toxic chemicals are FAR, FAR ahead of the United States. The criteria to take regulatory action against a chemical are much higher in the US, and result in a huge lag time in generating laws to protect the public.
