I've used those, but after doing a few, I've modified my procedure to totally eliminate that specific problem. I don't disconnect the speaker or power connector from the logic board at all. I carefully lean the top case against the screen and then can wiggle the top shield out around the wires. Sometimes you need to undo some tape on the top case to get some more length out of the wires.
