Advair Ads... awesome!!!
#7
[quote dmann]Not that I am defending the drug companies, but part of the problem with drugs like Advair is that they are not fast-acting inhalers and many people taking them don't understand that. Meaning, if you are having an asthma attack and take Advair, it won't do anything to stop the attack. You need something like Albuterol for that.

Long term inhalers are meant to slowly build up in the system so they either prevent attacks or lessen the severity of the attacks when they do happen. They don't open up your airways immediately.

I am not on Advair but I am on another long- term inhaler and both the Dr. and the packaging are very explicit about why and when to use that type of medication. I also carry an albuterol inhaler with me at all times so in case something does happen, I have the medication.

You got it! Advair is very safe. Just don't use it as a fast acting inhaler, it's a controller. But because people are stupid it gets the black box type warnings.

I use Advair for my sulfite intolerances (not asthmatic but reactions to sulfites are). It's darned good stuff.
