Mixer for video

yeah, I've been debating over getting a field mixer (which I do want) and more of a traditional mixer. i have two opportunities to film musical engagements. One I can probably get a mix from the board, but the other i'm on my own, and it's a jazz band. I was thinking of micing the instuments and that made me think of the mackie. any thoughts you have are welcome since to date, i've only ever used up to two mic ins on my cam, eith handheld or lav (both xlr).
