An ad agency I worked for did some research that showed us that people practically worshipped Wendy's. Totally different league than everyone else.
Burger King's highly effective young guy-targeted advertising, and McDonald's aggressive menu pricing, have been kicking Wendy's ass for a couple of years. Wendy's has been a bit lost in the wilderness trying to decide how to respond. Stay above the fray, or imitate the other guys. They ended up doing a little of both, which was the worst possible solution.
I like a lot of things at Wendy's. However, I like the chicken sandwich a lot less since they changed the recipe a couple of years ago.
