Older tires have the increased potential of the tread peeling off the tire.
Tractor trailer tires probably get used up before they are very old, but on infrequently used vehicles like campers and secondary cars the tires can be 10 years old still have lots of tread left. They say 6 years is about the limit now for how long you should keep tires before replacing them.
