I don't think those days ever existed, did they? There were always people who did not partake of the popular culture and I think they were often either well-off -- or else unable to partake of the stuff because they were badly off. This person seems to think that once upon a time everyone in the entire country was a clone of each other.
Yup, been noticing that a lot lately.
Just got one of those "remember when" forwards from my mom-- I guess 100% of the population in the 50s lived exactly like on Happy Days.
