I had been considering the "green" drives lately since they seem to be a few bucks cheaper than the other models. This review seems to conclude that they do use less power for sure, but a much less performance than the other models.
One thing to consider though is that depending on the drive(s) you may be replacing, the reduced performance of a 5400rpm "green" drive may still exceed what you have now. For instance, I am still using the stock 160GB drive that came with my G5 back in 2003. The max throughput is only in the 30-40MB/sec range. Compare that to the "green" drive which seems to average in the 60's.
