Pismo problem

Just tried to start up a Pismo for the first time in a month or so. I knew that the battery was totally gone when I last tried but it still was happy starting with the mains lead in but this time it won't do anything, no light, nothing. Does a totally and utterly (as opposed to just totally) dead battery prevent start-up even on mains power or should I be looking for something else?
