Uh, maybe he knows that drawing from his circle of friends and associates would not get him off to an exemplary start with "the folks"?
Except for pages and gofers nobody has ever worked for Obama because he's never had a job where he had to hire leaders and managers.?
Didn't he hire leaders and managers for his campaign that successfully got him nominated and elected President? Or were those just pages and gofers? Either way they seemed to be experienced and talented.
