Peter - the hole in your theory is that Dazey is not a lab but is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix
She is often mistaken for a lab but ridgeback's are a whole different breed. They are a member
of the hound group http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhodesian_Ridgeback
She is ridgeless & doesn't have the standing whorl of hair down her back, but she has the markings of it. She also has
the liver nose and amber eyes which some breeders feel is a regressive gene associated with the lack of a ridge
and white markingswhich are undesirable for a show dog but makes her belly just as rubable : - )
She looks very blond in the photo but depending on the light her coat can appear more copper colored.
I have a friend with a full yellow lab and when they are together Dazey looks very red/copper
The "mix" part is up for grabs -could be yellow lab, but she lacks many of the classic lab traits -
she hates the water and the cold and her hair is very short and soft and not thick and waterproof like the lab.
Also no webbed feet or dew claw either. Prefers to lay in the sun like her African ancestors .
(no problems with lions in the yard since I got her either) She is a dog of few barks but when
she does let lose you know that there is a good reason.
: -)
