I recently helped a few friends move out of a rental house and due to time constraints we basically had to throw away a bunch of serviceable housewares and furniture. We put it all out at the curb and some of it got picked up by the neighbors, but there was a couch that wound up in the trash truck, along with several glasses and other kitchen items.

I was able to get some things posted on Craigslist and taken away too, but when time runs out you just gotta dump it sometimes.
