I just opted for the G10 instead of the LX3, but mostly because the G10 has a waterproof housing available and that was my main desire. If it weren't for that, they were neck-in-neck. 24mm equiv. f/2 lens is a great plus for the LX3.
Thus far I'd agree with the various reviews that the G10 is pretty bad at 400 and above. I've been getting pretty sharp shots at .8" handheld @ 28mm equiv., which is pretty amazing I think. Coming from an SLR it is sooo small and fun to carry. The Canon waterproof housing is really impressive for about $170.
