Digital TV-Am I one of the last to make the switch?
#24
Assuming folks have a rooftop antenna is a bad assumption, sure. What this will do, for the folks who experience problems, is force an education about how ATSC signals are different than NTSC ones. It's really easy to get used to crappy analog reception. It's less easy to get used to intermittant digital reception. And that may or may not lead them to investigate a different antenna system.

But if you DO have a roof antenna, chances are very good it's around 33ft (10 meters) above ground if for no other reason than your roofline is at least 15-20 ft above ground.

I use a 5ft. mast with tripod mount on the roof's peak, making my antenna easily 30-40 ft. from the ground ... my Dish TR40 picks everything up nicely (but it may choke come summer when some leaves fill in). My 1st-gen elgato Hybrid isn't as sensitive however.
