Perhaps you didn't realize, but these Philippine veterans from WWII are people who stood up and fought for this nation. The fought and died because they believed in the ideals of the United States of America. The Philippines was a territory and commonwealth of the United States until 1946.

The situation is that Philippine soldiers who joined the United States Army and fought for America have been denied the support and funding that their white counterparts have enjoyed since leaving military service. Many of these former soldiers now live in poverty and without support in the same land that they were willing to sacrifice their lives for.

If you can sit around today touting the line "support our troops" then isn't it about time that we actually support those who defended our nation?
