Hi all,
Am zeroing out a 60-gig drive (8-pass with Panther) and I was just wondering how long will this take? It says that it's writing random data to the drive but the progress bar has barely budged!
Thanks.
Zeroing will not prevent that, off the top of my head I know five techs that can read data off that HDD no matter how much you zero it.
Very little equipment needed, regular PC, and some software.

interesting... could you please give more details?
can one store 2 TB of data on a single 1 TB drive? just write the drive with 1 TB of data, erase it and write again 1 TB of new data. Then one can read the new data the regular way, and the old data if one uses a PC and some software, right?
seems like a no brainer to double the capacity for very little effort.
or you could perhaps increase the capacity 8x ? LOL!

If you can wait 16 hours to boot up your Mac, it can be done.
