I used to think that paying for radio is silly as well. When I lived in an area that I could no longer receive local radio (the stations I wanted to hear) clearly and the stations that I DID get, sucked, we opted for Sirius in one of our cars. I was hooked. I paid for a lifetime subscription in that car and when we bought a new car last year, we did the same for XM in that car. No static, tons of variety and no commercials on most stations. I LOVE being able to listen to CNN when I drive around. Yes, it was not free, but as long as Sirius/XM will be around, I am a customer.
