I was in college when Star Trek started. One of my friends was really into it. Frankly I was disappointed myself.
Gene's got me beat by a bit. I remember my mom watching the Army-McCarthy hearings on our B&W TV, I was seven or eight. Edward R. Murrow; the Jackie Gleason show, with the June Taylor dancers—lots of photography from above so you could see the patterns the dancers made; "You ain't nothin' but a Hound Dog;"Jimmy Durante—"Goodnight, Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are."
