Hi Joey,
According to the folks I asked here at OWC, the only difference is the exterior case, but the internal stuff is the same. Aluminum does have good heat dissipating properties and the more expensive case uses the Oxford 924 chipset. They're both single drive enclosures, as far as I can tell.

(I didn't immediately find any info. on the 924 chipset.)
I have the one with the 924 chipset, works just fine in the 2 years I've had it.
