Where would you draw the line for not using "alleged?" I like "accused."

accused seems a reasonable compromise.

you seem to forget that people really are innocent (of the crimes they are accused of committing) until they are found guilty - by definition.

It's just word play, but you're not playing right :-)

Everyone saw Nidal Hasan too. But from Obama down the first that came out of their mouths was not to rush to judgment. No speculation allowed why he did it. You do that and you are a bigot. I don't recall a national moment of silence either. Do you?

i thought the rush to judgment was in regards to motive and whether it was part of larger terrorist agenda. no one ever disputed he did what he did. i think caution about the rush to judgment applies in this case also. as much as i dislike Palin or disagree with some aspects of the Tea Party it worries me that so many are ready to pin so much of the blame for this there.

No, caution against rush to judgment was for not fixing blame or motivations lest it leads to some sensitive quarters. Come on, you know that. Media dropped it like a hot potato within days.

everyone perceives events differently. that's not how events unfolded in my understanding.

How could you not remember? Washington and the media were petrified of moslems as a whole be implicated. I love to see some hearings on this. So much was shoved under the carpet.

if that's what you're talking about then i think that was a reasonable concern. we should make sure that we don't use a broad brush to paint all muslims responsible for the acts of a few extremists and or nutjobs. just like i said it's wrong to blame Tuscon on the conservative right.

Well, in that case you are a reasoned fellow. Krugman, the "economist", and his ilk had practically written their pieces and stored it away for a day like this. Others are screaming at Obama from the sidelines to make this his Oklahoma City.
