Walk or maybe jog quickly you fools? Quad 2.66 Mac Pro $899.99, 90 day wty

Decent price, even well-used. They seem to be going for over $1,000 elsewhere.

...

Some big company probably leased them and the leasing company is dumping them.

If you could figure out which leasing company is ditching a pile of off-lease Macs this month you might be able to save some $$ by dealing directly with them.

I came here to post this deal but got beat to it... twice. Smile

Note that this one comes with 4GB RAM which makes it an even better deal.

If I didn't have that machine already, I would be all over it.

But mine has the craptastic stock Nvidia 7300GT. Have there been any reliability problems with that ATI Radeon X1900XT video card?

P.S.: Limit 5 per customer.

FWIW I have that ATI 1900XT. It works fine but I don't push my video too hard. It can get fairly loud, but usually when it starts up with that, a couple blasts of air to blow out the fans on the card usually hushes it pretty well.

I have been thinking about flashing a PC video card as an upgrade (don't have a link but just google around) Less because I need faster video, and more just because if I'd love the option of not having yet another fan in that Mac Pro.

Seems like the 1st generation ATi x1900xt cards had a problem of overheating.

It's kind of a bad design because dust and fuzz get pulled into the heat exchanger on the card. I've got a rev 2 card that works just fine but I still blast it from time to time to keep the air flowing.

Oh yeah, if you have a certain serial number, get it replaced before January 31

BTW, I got my X1900 traded in under the recall and they gave me a much quieter Nvida card.

The RAM is what really kills it for me. You can build a faster hackintosh with a better video card for the same price, especially since 8 GB of DDR3 is under $80 some places. If you want more RAM, you are buying it for a 4-1/2 year old computer.

I can't argue with a Hac being cheaper and faster but this is a very good price for an authentic Apple product. You get a lot of machine for $900.
