Mine had a cabinet above the "peninsula" and the first day I had access to the house I took it down. It's the first thing to go in all of the HGTV makeover shows. It allows you to see from the kitchen to the breakfast nook, more open concept, but of course we did lose some storage! I took it out to the garage and mounted it on the wall and now it holds my beer making supplies. :-)
