Bob Dole was right after all.
What happened to the LA Dodgers?

As soon as the McCourts are gone, the stadium will fill up again, assuming Selig and the other owners don't make a similar mistake and allow another incompetent owner to take over... if MLB takes over for awhile, I suspect the fans will continue w/ their "wait and see" attitude. I'm a Giants' fan living in LA for over forty years, and rivalry aside, the Dodgers were a family friendly, well run, organization that I grew to appreciate until the O'Malley's bowed out. They have been plagued w/ various problems ever since, and it's really not even close to the same experience it used to be to go to Dodger Stadium. We went to the game Saturday against the Angels, and the place was half empty... a few years ago, the "Freeway Series" was scalper's dream.

Thanks numbered and buzz - I had no idea how bad the situation was... I'm a giants fan too, but lived in SoCal as a kid from '67-'71 and many fond Dodger memories. Dad was a Brooklyn fan...

I heard the McCourts had a hair stylist on call at all times in case one of them needed a trim. One place said the cost was $150,000 per year.

As a life long Los Angeles Dodgers fan (screw Brooklyn), I don't know why anyone cares about anything other than what's on the field. The Dodger's have been sucking since 1989, long before the McCourts had anything to do with them. When they traded Mike Piazza in his prime, it's been downhill ever since save for a few competitive years. People in L.A. just like being in the middle of other people's business. The current squad isn't a bad team. If they get a good run, they might be able to do something.
Like Buzz, I'm a Dodgers fan living in Giant's country and I haven't been but to a few games in the past couple of years (which were fine experiences to me). I don't give a frig who owns the team. All I care about is what's played between the lines. All MLB and Selig are trying to do is steal a baseball team and give to some other greed-monger.

I'm still a Pirates fan. Last I checked they were actually 1 game ABOVE .500 for the season. That is the first time in 15 years or more that has happened.

Actually, I forgot to add three words that put the Dodger's current fiasco into perspective for Los Angeles area professional sports fans...
"Violet Frances Irwin" better known as Georgia Frontiere At least Al Davis was a known commodity. /// |
