I had a second hand SEx but my Quadra 950 was the first new one that I bought. I also bought
a SuperMac 17" monitor, a Syquest drive and a copy of Photoshop 2.0 at the same time.
I still have the keys to the Quadra, the Photoshop disks & box on my bookshelf, and the invoice for
it all is in my files some place. I should have bought stock instead.

Mine was a 1996 Powerbook, used.. a creaky little beast with a black-and-white screen, and floppy drive.. this was when AOL charged per minute.. and the internet boom was in its infancy. I learned how to type on that thing.
It wasn't until years later that I realized that 1996 was perhaps Apple's darkest year, when the company could barely make the payroll and keep the lights on. And right before the dawn of Jobs' Heroic return.
I think Apple's Infinite Loop Headquarters should raise a Pirate Flag, at half mast, until the end of October.

My first APPLE Computer was also a //c. I still have it in the original box with the Monitor ][ (I think we bought it at Microcenter and convinced the sales guy to bundle the larger Monitor ][ instead of the smaller //c monitor). I got it in June 1984, just after it was released. I used my Bar Mitzvah money to buy it. I also bought an Apple Modem 300 and an Epson RX80-F/T+ printer that required a serial to parallel cable.
Shortly afterwards, I bought an external 5.25" drive. Several years later, I bought an external 3.5" disk drive. I still have all these (except the printer) in their boxes in the basement storage.
In college I had roomates who had Mac Plus and Mac SE, so I mainly used their computers.
My first MacOS computer was a Power Computing PowerBase MT 200Mhz G3, which I bought right after it came out in 1996. My wife got an iMac G5 refurb when they were released and I eventually bought a new MacBook about 4 years ago.
However, in the interim, I've also bought and sold a few other iMacs, eMacs, and Mac Minis on Craigslist. We currently have 3 iMac C2D and my MacBook. Next year, I get a new MacBook Pro or Air.

The first mac I ever used was an original mac prototype owned by a friend who was a co-author of Inside Macintosh. That was 1984 and I was completely blown away by how cool that machine was.
The first mac I ever owned myself was a 6100. That was one of Apple's best ever machines and it's performance completely eclipsed the previous generation mac. It was still going strong after 12 years, at which time I finally gave it away to somebody who didn't own a computer.
