It may be much more simple than that. Parenting is a highly emotional, hot button issue in which a majority of American adults are invested. As we are about most things, American parents are competitive and we want to know what the competition is doing and thinking, lest we fall behind and somehow disadvantage our progeny.
What better way to drive clicks than to write about it, especially in a provocative way?

So buy this woman's book, and she shall divulge the secret to how the French have perfected parenting.

You can put it on the shelf next to all the other books about parenting. Then use it to smack Jr. upside the head when they misbehave.
