Ha - I was just about to write that. OD members don't talk about membership in public. If they are not members, they are at least Cooperators of Opus Dei.

Oh there are plenty of folks who self identify as Opus Dei members. Santorum says instead that he admires founder Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer. I guess I take him for his word on that sort of thing. But yeah, he certainly would support the kind of extreme orthodoxy that Opus Dei stands for.

And for some comedic relief...

Santorum told NCR that he regards George W. Bush as “the first Catholic president of the United States.”

“From economic issues focusing on the poor and social justice, to issues of human life, George Bush is there,” he said. “He has every right to say, ‘I’m where you are if you’re a believing Catholic.’ ”

Cripes.. Hanssen... I remember that guy ! He was responsible for giving counterintelligence briefings in my area in the late 80's. He would 'test' us by asking for classified information.

And then sell what he got to the Rooskies.

I never said a word beyond "No" in response to his insistent questions.

Did he invite you to come over and watch him have sex with his wife?

Lux.. uh, no. He just asked for information on ongoing classified projects. We politely said "no". He didn't have need to know about the SDI project we were working on.

I guess enough people said "Sure, here's the info" that he was able to make a profit. Glad he's in jail where traitors like him belong.
