My first thought would have been that the "American" area was shorthanded and pulled someone from elsewhere to help out.
My first thought was the plethora of ethnicities I know as American, and from where the idea that someone who is Mexican could not be American arises.

If only this man were only on the internet. He's an elected state official.

After 9/11 there was a public service announcement running on television with people of various ethnic backgrounds each saying "I am an American."
We need to rerun that.

If you give it more than 5 seconds of thought - All Mexican's are Americans, as are all Canadians, Hondurans, Panamanians, Argentinians, Bolivians, and every other person who is a citizen of North, Central or South AMERICA.
Citizens of the United States just happen to be part of that little contingent. We're the ones that can't get along and place nice with others.

Comments from people who don't share the Harris's point of view are pretty funny though:
"Note to the batshit insane little conservatives that were so offended, When you visit Epcot, you are not visiting a foreign country any more than you are when you go to the International House of Pancakes. I am sure, you were not asked for a passport when you entered Epcot. It is an amusement park. Everyone who works at that park is a citizen or legal resident of the United States. Please don't travel out of the country. I don't think you could handle the stress of people talking in a language other than English."
Not quite right - from what I recall, the World Showcase areas have workers from their respective countries working there; I thought that was one of the neater things about the place - it gave you an opportunity to talk with and interact with natives of the actual countries represented.
.
There is nobody working at Disney who is not a "legal resident." They may be working only for the summer, but they are doing so legally. The opposite of that is "illegal resident" in which case they are not employed by Disney.
I can attest to that first hand. Today is my daughter's first day working at WDW as part of the college internship program and she had to fill out all kinds of forms to prove her citizenship and such. I know an I-9 was one of the forms and she had to bring either a passport or two other forms of ID with her, one being a SS card, if she didn't have a passport. There are non citizens working at Epcot, in the country pavilions, and most of these are also students that come over for a semester to work in their country's pavilion. For these numb skulls to get cranked up over something like this makes me both sad and angry.

(do they have children? i skimmed that story and didn't see mention of any. if not, WHY? they are pro-life, pro-family, one man/one woman marriage believers!)

whoops - missed the "legal resident" part and focused on the "citizen" part. But, anyways, I don't think there's anyone on this forum who would defend these bozos (well, I hope not, at least).
To answer August West's observation - that was my thought as well (America has a plethora of ethnicities ) - but I'm going to give the blogger a little (very little) benefit of the doubt and assume they saw a Mexican Flag name badge on the employee when he was staffing the American area (I seem to recall that the employees working there have miniature country flags embellishing their name tags). Even if that was the case, they're still dumbasses for taking offense...

The country flag indicates the country of origin not necessarily their status as a citizen. Could be born in Mexico but a naturalized US citizen.
