Well, cbelt, it's like the old saying goes: lie down with dogs, get up with fleas.
Sure, lets play it YOUR way, this is YOUR party, your fleas:...
Hate to tell you dude but that Democratic party are now the Republican party. Neither party is like it was in that timeframe. But you knew that already. Lame.

BTW, the youtube thing is about how white Barry Obama is and that he really IS appealing to white men as a candidate - NOT that you're a racist if you don't vote for him.
and it's really funny...

Don't like them folk neither. My grandfather put it on the line to ensure tribal rights for the Shinnecock tribe and stopped an unscrupulous developer from stealing their land and others from stealing their fishing rights.. in the 1950's. They named him an official Chief of the tribe for that. We returned the ceremonial outfit after he died. A number of the tribal elders showed up for his funeral, which caused a bit of a stir in the staid Catholic congregation.
My parents (and my little sister and I ) marched for civil rights in the early 60's (I have vague memories of waving signs and people yelling at us).
My whole family have been staunch Republicans for generations. Do not imply that political affiliation equals personal racism. It's offensive, dammit. And, of course, for every finger you point, three more point back at you. Your party isn't 'clean' in history either. Fine.
Work to End Racism. Stop Celebrating IT !!!
Near as I can tell, the crux of your angst about this is that one should not recognize that there are cultural differences in this country, and some of those differences fall along racial lines. Sorry, bud, but that's a white/dominant perspective. People of color are very likely to find your desire to suppress, rather than celebrate those differences offensive.

Also, this discussion might make more sense if you actually watched the video.

Black-
Of course, and you've provided an insightful perspective. Thank you. I had not considered that view. I had always felt that 'color neutral' was a good thing, and that cultures were to be celebrated as part of everyone's unique heritage, which comes together to make this nation very interesting and fun.

Was it some person unknown to you that NPR was introducing as an expert, or was it some man on the street thing? Because you can feel the commentators' eyerolls on some of those MOTS interviews. Kind of like "oh, geez, where'd you find this one?"
And if it was a MOTS interview, why are you getting all upset about that?

The other thing that people may be misunderstanding is that to some of us, it's hard to imagine any reason to vote for Romney EXCEPT if one likes his whiteness. Because his whiteness is just about the only thing he hasn't changed to try to win this election.

You're forgetting the bad "sun kissed" makeup job before he spoke to a groups of Hispanics.
