Another example of Obamacare on business...
#11
It is ludicrous to offer health insurance to the five highly-paid managers of that bakery but not to the line workers. How do the owners sleep at night?

Why do cling to this tiered society, with the top tier so rich they will never have to worry about access to health care, insurance or no; a second tier with access to affordable health care provided by their employer; and a huge third tier with no affordable access at all and very little hope of ever making it to the second tier. That is NOT what this nation is supposed to be about.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that business owners will do what is needed to avoid paying more taxes.

One possibility not mentioned is to restrict the employees to 29 hours/week - that also gets around the mandate.

isn't it 28 hours? But why because of a governmental mandate which is not constitutional should we have interference in our lives like this?

This statement is so ridiculously untrue that it's difficult to even know where to start. Does the judgement of the Samintx Court now trump the decisions of the Supreme Court?

Bring it on.

I just met a mom, her kids are in our kids' classes, deadbeat husband out of the picture, she holds down a PT job plus a few extra hours elsewhere. No healthcare. Unconscionable, untenable.

interference in our lives

That's disgustingly selfish, short-sighted, heartless and wildly out of step with modern, caring society.

It's also mathematically dumb. The same people who might regularly toss a few bucks into a church collection plate or write a check to a charity won't allow the same or lesser amounts to impact their paycheck or other benefit check. Wake up.

I just posted this reply two threads down it thought it fitting on how I feel about Obamacare:

IMHO Obamacare is a loser. Perhaps the original intent was there but the whole thing got jacked around by the House and Senate in order to pass. It's a watered down version of what was originally desired. I doubt this is what the Prez wanted but it's what he could pass. Now we, the public (and business) get to muddle through it (or if you are an employer try to avoid in the first place).

Just my two cents...

Right D & C, better to declare it a failure before it begins, because it's imperfect, right?

Fixed that for you.

Something as so large scale as this needs/needed to be damn good coming out of the gate. It's not so it will be a real mess (if it isn't already). If it's not fixed prior to the 2016 election look for the GOP to swoop in and take advantage of the debacle.

Thanks for the edits davester but in the end, the Prez signed the dotted line. It's his "baby" and he'll forever be praised or lambasted for it.

I honestly don't know how it will turn out, there needs to be some revisions, I'm assuming there will be...sort of a Obamacare 2.0.

I'm not against national health care, just not a big fan of this one.

I disagree it'll be "a real mess." Ineffective, maybe, but not mayhem or endless confusion or mass job restructuring or [fill in the blank, after much hand-wringing.]

Again, you're wanting it to be fixed before showing it's broken, so where's the discussion happening? These links from samintx prove it's dead on arrival? How?

GOP to swoop in and take advantage of the debacle.

Maybe they could think about restructuring the healthcare industry, because simply canceling Obamacare couldn't "fix" anything but the status quo, correct?
