When will they offer a free ZUNE with each Surface purchase. They still have those around don't they?

The Zune HD was very good hardware for the time.
I recommended the Surface Pro to someone at work because he needed a portable Windows compatible machine to access internal secure webpages with IE, which even the newest iPad can not do. The current Surface Pro is nearly equivalent to the first MBA except for battery life, and it can run OS X. The next version of the Surface Pro is supposed to be a Haswel based unit with 15% better performance and 50% better battery life.

I pretty much fit into the tablet for consuming and heavier duty machine for creating. I do not like the workflow on tablets. Trying to cram a Haswell in there won't make me want to buy a tablet and will probably raise the price.

the idea of an integrated keyboard, turning it into a quasi-serious machine is what I had hoped for when the iPad first was introduced. the issue with Surface is the OS, not the hardware. if they go to something people can really use (be it consumer or creator), then I do think sales will improve.

It is still largely a big iPod touch, not quite a full computer replacement, posted as someone who owns an iPod touch, an iPad, and actual computers. Instead of fighting the iPad's limitations, I simply keep an old netbook around in a supplemental role for portable computing. Or perhaps the iPad is the supplement? Whichever.

Surface Pro = Windows software will run on it.
Windows phone = Windows Phone OS will only run on it (i.e. like iOS does on iPhones) Not Google Android. Surface RT only runs software designed for it. None of the above. A reduced version of office and not enough other software for an under powered device. Looks and smells like a soon to be discontinued piece of cheap unsupported hardware.

Let's see what version 2.0 looks like before we declare it dead... D & C

New hardware won't help the fact that it runs it's own OS.
At least Google and Apple have Apps. (programs) That's the problem with Surface RT. Surface Pro is by far more versatile. Still over priced in my opinion but at least you can run Windows programs. Can buy an Air about same money or a decent Windows laptop cheaper. That's why the RT won't make it. |
