Best XP Virus Protection??
#11
The consumer versions of both Symantec/McAfee are not that great...too bloated. The corporate editions are always nicer on a system.

I would recommend the free version of AVG, as well. Does a great job, and the price is definitely right!!! : )

AVG free and ewido, plus Tweaknow Reg Cleaner and Ad-Aware SE. That oughta just about do it.

[quote prof]Hi,
I'm advising a friend on the best virus/malware/spyware protection for XP.
Friends don't let friends use Windows.

I've had to fix so many computers that have had McAfee or Norton causing problems.

I've never had a problem with Spybot Search & Destroy, Ewido, AVG, Avast, M$ Windows Defender, Adaware, a-squared, NOD 32, Kaspersky, etc., etc.
Yes some may have free versions, but I like to recommend upgrading to a paid version, and to donate towards those that stay free but accept donations.
