it's funny how often a pretty face gets assumed to be lip synching..i always have to say, about Shakira..she writes..music and lyrics, she plays drums, guitar, harp, she produces all of her own music..she knows her way around a recording studio..she basically is in control of every detail of her stuff..and keeps her hands in a lot of different stuff "I don't want to be the architect of my own jail" as she says.. This girl operates at genius level and works really hard and her crowds go &$%^&%^&ing nuts because she is an intense and generous entertainer..i live under her front porch. really, where do you see that? Which vid, both? I disagree..everyone seems live..Loca is mostly perscussion and synth/horn etc..The second vid from the same legendary show is live..period.

Please look more closely..these are not the original studio tracks..that's for sure..This band is fillled with some very serious players who have been with Shakira for a long time..you think they can't handle playing these tunes..I think you glossed it, Chopper ..because it's pop it's somehow not legit??

I'm not familiar with Shakira's work, and I have no idea of the level of her talent & its consistency. I will say that I participated in the transition of music from analog to digital, and there was a long period when it was standard to have back up recordings of "live" songs available to mix into the show as needed. IIRC, Janet Jackson and her highly choreographed routines really helped bring this practice wide spread acceptance.

ETA: I also meant to mention that I've seen many instances of sync slipping as it is moved from production, processing, post, and then an online version. It's often fairly soft after many transitions in format and people have been at it.

Exactly..if you look at Youtube vids you are seeing the sync slip all over the place..funny thing that im seeing it more and more these days.

I am sure that Shakira has lipped it quite a few times..certain situations demand it. Most have done it..and it was done all the time for Tv appearances in the early days..

These are not lip synched vids and that band is playing..it's such a strange reflex to knee jerk to "he she's lip synching!!" it's almost automatic, especially when the singer is a hotty..sometimes correct..sometimes not.

Shakira's talent is there..she does it all..it's sort of legendary , easy to find this info..she also speaks 4 languages fluently and French is coming righ up..

It's literally physically impossible for some modern performers to do the dance routines they do AND sing at the same time. Pick your poison...

I would never consider what Shakira does to be all out dancing..for the most part she gyrates and does belly dance moves..she's a studied and accomplished belly dancer from a very early age (she's half Arabic..her Dad is LEbanese)..it's a much different thing..most of the actual dance moves come during the instrumental breaks..other than that she does what most rock singers do..she works the stage..I think you have to observe more closely as to when she dances and when she gyrates and at what points during the songs..watch the third video with the guest guitar player

Ever watch Mick Jagger? He's pretty much doing Aerobic work from front to back in his shows..
